The
Professional Development Series:
The RMDMA, offers
a certificate program to train direct marketing professionals in
the essentials of direct marketing as well as in the most profitable
direct marketing trends and technology. Students participating in
these classes should have a general business and direct marketing
background.
The program consists of three courses (core areas), each offered in a flexible format (total of 90 contact hours). Upon successful
completion of the three core areas, you will be eligible to sit for
the certification exam administered by the RMDMA to earn the CDM
designation. If you are not interested in pursuing the certification,
you are welcome to take any or all of the courses that suit your
specific needs.
Program Outline
The program consist of three 10-week courses each meeting one day a week from 6pm-9m (unless otherwise indicated by the instructor) See courses below for the detailed class meetings.
Course 1 - The Principles
of Direct Marketing
The course that provides a foundation for all the rest and that teaches you to think like a direct marketer. You'll discover, in detail, the guiding principles of lists, offer and creative, and what makes direct marketing so effective.
Course 2 - Database Marketing, Course
Learn what every direct marketer should know – but few actually do – about your customer and prospect files and their critical role in direct marketing success. From discovering sources and uses of lists and databases to applying cutting edge techniques in segmentation and modeling, you'll discover practical applications that build profitability.
Course 3 - Direct Marketing Creative, Course
Explore creative techniques that work and how using these techniques effectively can make a significant impact on your bottom line. You'll discover how to improve results – and how to avoid critical mistakes – in direct mail, online direct marketing, and more.
Upon successful completion of these courses covering 90 hours of instruction, you will be eligible to sit for the certification exam to earn your CDM.

One textbook will be required for each course. All books can be purchased through the bookseller of your choice.
